Meet the Pet
This helps Poodle and Pooch Rescue with pet care costs.
Hello, I’m Oliver . . . I am just over 1 ½ years old and am a poodle boy. I currently weigh 55 lbs. I’ve been getting lots of love in my foster home, and now I am ready for my new FUR-ever family. I hope you enjoy reading more about me. I can tell you one thing for sure . . . I LOVE people. Plus, I'm handsome!
General Behavior: Oliver is very laid back and enjoys being around people. He has also been described as athletic, clever, shy and independent.
Likes & Dislikes: Oliver loves his toys and is perfectly content to lay on a dog bed and play with them. He is not, however, a fan of sharing toys with other dogs. He loves car rides. Loud noises are not his thing, and he startles easily and will hide.
Training: Oliver is housebroken in his foster home and will need to continue being let out on a regular schedule. Overall, he has good basic manners. He could use more practice with leash walking. He is food and treat-motivated, which lends itself to easier positive reinforcement training.
Medical: Oliver is a healthy fella and will just require his monthly heartworm and flea prevention, like any other dog.
Other Animals: Oliver is experienced with dogs of all sizes. He seems to do better when there is another dog around, so a home with a fur-friend who can respect boundaries would be ideal. Oliver has experience with cats and basically ignores them.
Children:Oliver has not been around children in his foster home. He did, however, experience children at the vet's office. They found that Oliver was nervous and startled around the children. Due to this, as well as his skittishness and fear of loud noises, a home without children would be needed.
Home: Oliver has been left alone for several hours in a secure area of his foster home with no issues. He loves to run outside so will require a single-family home with a fenced yard where he can run and play. He does tend to bark and cry when his person leaves the house but settles down after a few minutes. Having another dog in the home does help. After a day of play and loving his people, he gets a good night’s rest in his dog bed.
Grooming: As a poodle, Oliver will require professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. The “average” cost for this is $85 and this ongoing cost should be taken into consideration by all potential adopters.
Overall: If you are looking for a laidback guy who will provide you lots of love, Oliver might be for you.
Are you the one for Oliver? Please visit our website, www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with his foster family if it’s a potential match. Oliver is fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. His adoption donation is $600.
