My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Recently, Tiger Lily suffered a loss in the form of her person passing away. For the last 2.5 years, she has lived as an only-dog to an elderly man. He had been Tiger Lily’s temp foster through the shelter and continued to be there for her once we pulled her into rescue in an effort to save her from euthanasia and get her the extensive emergency dental care she needed. A great fit for each other, Tiger Lily enjoyed being his companion. Now a healthy senior at nearly 10 years young, she’s looking for an adopter to spend her golden years with.

It’s hard to describe Tiger Lily without overusing the word love. Afterall, that’s what she’s all about. Tiger Lily loves everyone she meets. When petting this extremely affectionate girl, she leans in as though to say, “Where have you been my whole life?” Her doting nature is carried over to her stuffed toys. We’ve seen her meticulously pick out her favorites from a toy box and, one-by-one, carry them over to her bed before diving in and enjoying them.

Don’t let her age fool you: Tiger Lily lights up at the very mention of a walk. Forget all the fitness apps: If you need an exercise partner to motivate you to get your daily steps in, Tiger Lily is there for you. Her preference would be a route that never ends, but she’s happy to follow your lead. Tiger Lily is well-mannered on the leash, sticking by your side and waiting for cues.

Tiger Lily would be happy as an only-dog or living as part of a pack. At the end of a long day, this sweet soul will put herself to bed, where she sleeps peacefully through the night. She’s more than ready to find a home to call her own.

More about this rescue

K9 Kismet Dog Rescue is a foster-based, volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Long Beach, CA. Founded in 2015, our dedicated team has helped to place hundreds of animals in loving, permanent homes.

Our primary mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and find loving, permanent homes for homeless dogs, specifically dogs in shelters at-risk of euthanasia and dogs whose owners can no longer care for them. We believe in compassionate rescue when the dog is enduring inhumane living conditions or likely to be deemed less adoptable due to age, health, emotional state, or breed. We ensure that all the dogs we take into our rescue, regardless of individual needs, are cared for with love and compassion for the duration of their lives.

We strive to make a difference in the life of each dog we bring into our pack, and our commitment to each dog doesn’t end once they are adopted. We provide lifelong support to all K9 Kismet alumni should an emergency arise. Once a K9 Kismet Dog, always a K9 Kismet Dog. This isn’t a catch phrase; this is a core value.
