My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Blondie!

Blondie is a social and curious girl who loves to burrow deep in the bedding of her enclosure. When you place her snacks in her enclosure she'll happily walk around and scoop them into her cheek pouches. This is the best time to gently pet and give her some love and help encourage positive interactions with human friends. So far she has been introduced to many healthy foods including carrots, lettuce, zucchini, watermelon, and more! By using a container and children's play sand, Blondie has a grand time digging in her sandbox! She is also essentially litter trained as she pees in the corners of the box, which makes cleaning her enclosure very easy! Blondie has a 9" wheel and a spacious enclosure to promote exercise.

If you can provide adorable Blondie with the home of her dreams, please contact the Shuswap branch at 250-832-7376 Tues-Sun 12:00-4:00pm, or email shuswap@spca.bc.ca for more information!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
