My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Six beautiful, sweet kittens, each one more orange than the last–it sounds like the premise of an amazing new children’s book series, but it’s so much better, because they exist!

These kittens were rescued from a large Trap Neuter Return (TNR) project in the Rockaways along with their feral mothers. Sadly, the vast majority of kittens born outside do not survive, which is why we are such strong proponents of TNR. In order to give them the best changes for survival they received around-the-clock monitoring and care.

We had the privilege of watching them grow from tiny newborns with eyes closed to the raucous bunch of adoption ready, immensely lovable, chaos demons they are today. Nudibranch, the only girl of the six, adores her brother Mossy Chiton, but the remaining four adore each other equally and are available as mix and match pairs.

Their main hobbies and interests include exploring every nook and cranny of their space, eating, and napping in a big puddle. They are outgoing and love people and affection and would be great in a home with children and other animals, including dogs!

Nudibranch must be adopted with Mossy Chiton, but the others just need to go in pairs!

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
