My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*** Amaya is in a foster home. ***

Solid black, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 9/1/23, #19000

Cats: must be solo kitty
Dogs: no thanks
Children: great!

Amaya was found wandering a San Diego neighborhood where she charmed a family into feeding her. When they were preparing to move, however, they weren't going to be able to take her with them and by then she was pregnant. Concerned about Amaya's future, they sought rescue help and she moved into foster care barely a week before giving birth.

Amaya's short tail is not due to an injury: it's genetics! She passed varying lengths of that cute stubby appendage along to several of her kittens. She did a great job raising her family but now that they are independent of her she's ready to put her own desires first again. Amaya is a very sweet and friendly cat who adores people. People are her focus. She's a wonderful lap cat, enjoys getting lots of attention, and is a cozy companion. She'll happily nap on a cat tree by the window where she can do some leisurely bird watching. It's possible as she gets further from motherhood that she'll get more playful, but as of right now she's low-key and content to just relax.

Amaya has made her feelings on other cats and dogs very clear: no thank you! She wants to be your only fur-child. She is great with people of all ages, though, and happily interacted with the young grandchildren in her foster home, including toddlers.

What a sweetheart! Will Amaya make the best new addition to your family?
