What is Rehome?
If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
Spooky is a sweet, shy tuxedo cat adopted from the Fairfax Animal Shelter in August 2019. We were told that she was found abandoned with her litter mates and no mother at a very young age, and had to be hand fed by volunteers.
We brought her home, thinking she would be a companion and playmate for our Cat #1, who we'd already had for several years. Unfortunately, Cat #1 from the very start was very threatened by Spooky and acted aggressively toward her, chasing her out of the main level of the house and forcing her to hide in the basement a lot of the time. That has not changed over time, and Spooky has not been able to live a good life. She is often being stalked by our Cat #1 and it seems to be very stressful for her. She has been going to the bathroom outside her box lately, we think because of stress. We have reluctantly come to the conclusion that she would be better off in a different home.
