My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chili is a sweet and affectionate charmer who loves to jump up and give a long loving hug and hopes to get lots of kisses in return. She will put her nose right on your nose to make sure you are giving her all your love and attention. She is young, strong and active. She was a bit overpowering for children under 12 and would do best in a home with older children. She had no house manners when she first came into foster, but she is very proud to show off her "sit" for treats. If you don't notice her, she will thump along the floor to get your attention (and the treat) She will need additional training on keeping 4 on the floor - she would much prefer to greet you face to face with her hugs. She is also doing well on her house training. She is a smart girl and picked up on the daily routine very easily. She is always excited to hear "walk" and see her harness.

Chili enjoys hanging out in the fenced yard, snoozing in the shade and patrolling for any varmints that have foolishly come into the yard. Chili does not bay/bawl, but will bark when startled or thinks there is danger. She loves to take walks around the neighborhood. She has a strong sense of smell, and will frequently have her nose in the air or on the ground. She likes to do her business on her walks. She needs to use a harness as she has a strong prey drive. She has been friendly to other dogs and is happy to have them take walks with her. Chili has a good appetite and is very treat motivated. But she also loves praise. She responds well to being told "good girl" to reinforce her good behavior.
Bluetick Coonhounds are bred to be hunting dogs. They are athletic, hardy, and need a full-time job or activity such as hunting, obedience, or agility to stay happy. Chili's job while in foster was to raise and protect her puppies. Come meet this fabulous girl!
*Weekend Host feedback: " Chili was AWESOME with other dogs. She walked really well with my dog when I had them out together for a walk. She would do well in a car with a doggo seat belt. She did great with going right to the door and sitting when she had to go potty".

Additional adoption info

All puppies and dogs at Saving Grace are crate trained, have been spayed/neutered, are up to date on their vaccines, are on heartworm preventative and have been microchipped. Their adoption fee is $350.00. Each has been carefully screened for disposition and temperament in order to provide your home with a safe companion that will enjoy life as your new family member.

If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, please complete an Adoption Application at our website: savinggracenc.org

Sending an Application does not commit you to an adoption, it simply provides us with background information on potential homes. Please review our Adoption Contract before sending an Application to ensure that you will be able to provide the requirements stated in the contract. The Contract must be signed at the time of adoption.

Saving Grace is a small, non-profit 501-C3 organization operated by volunteers only. Most of our animals come from rural animal control shelters where lack of space and resources limit their time and adoption possibilities. Thank you for choosing Saving Grace! We look forward to helping you find your new companion and family member.

More about this rescue

Located in central North Carolina and officially established in 2004, Saving Grace has placed over 15,000 dogs into homes since its inception. These dogs were from rural animal control facilities with little resources and who would otherwise not had the opportunity to receive necessary veterinary care and a chance at adoption. While we have grown significantly over the years and have been successful growing our numbers we still see many great dogs miss the opportunity of adoption.

We have a large variety of dogs varying in breed, size, shape, age and needs and would love to work with you to find you a great dog companion while providing a dog in need with a loving home. Our dogs are chosen based on temperament and socialization. We get some of the most charming, unique mix breeds as well as some striking purebreds. Our dogs come from rural, underserved areas and while they may have little experience as an indoor family member, they have the temperament and personality that is sure to bring much love and appreciation to their new home. Most have started their crate training while in our program. Veterinary care including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test, vaccinations, monthly preventatives are provided prior to each adoption. If you would like more information about adopting one of our dogs, please email savinggrace@savinggracenc.org
