Riot von Roklum is a very handsome, 7-year-old German Shepherd. This strikingly-handsome boy has a heart as big as his paws! He has mastered the art of walking on-leash, stepping out with excitement and readiness for each new adventure. His medium-energy level makes him an ideal companion for those who enjoy leisurely strolls and explorations. Riot’s curiosity knows no bounds. He loves to explore his surroundings and greet everyone he meets along the way. His friendly demeanor extends to other dogs as well: he meets them with ease and has walked harmoniously alongside six others. Despite his age, Riot retains a playful spirit, engaging in fun and games with other dogs, including puppies! This big boy is a sweetheart through and through. He adores leaning on people and being petted all over, while his love for treats and eagerness to please make him a joy to train. Likely housebroken, Riot knows the command “Sit” and takes treats gently, showcasing his well-mannered nature. In playgroups, Riot shines as a great greeter, entering the yard comfortably and enjoying his time with other dogs. His playful side might surprise those who meet him, as he has enthusiastically engaged with a playful puppy, proving that age is just a number! We know some people have a soft spot for seniors, and Riot has already won our hearts at the rescue (he does require an inexpensive medication). This big and charming boy is a loyal friend, a curious explorer and a playful companion who brings joy to everyone he meets.
Rescued from the Porterville animal shelter.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

In order to adopt any dog from Westside German Shepherd Rescue, one must fill out an adoption application first. Upon receipt of your application, a Westside adoption counselor will contact you.We do aerial home checks and you may be asked to supply pictures as well as arranging for a home visit prior to adoption.
Adoption fees vary with each dog and typically range from $150 to $500. They are set, taking into account the dog's age, training level, temperament, if they’re newly arrived, medical condition(s) (if any) and other factors. Adoption fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations.
