My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Summer, Your New Sunshine Companion!

Summer, a one-year-old shepherd mix, is as radiant as her namesake season. With her tan coat and distinctive black snout, she`s a vision of warmth and charm. Her playful spirit shines through in every wag of her tail and bounce of her step. Summer is the embodiment of fun and frolic, always eager to chase a ball or engage in playful romps with her furry friends. She loves playing in the water hose. (Summer fun!)

In addition to her playful nature, Summer is a true sweetheart. Her affectionate personality knows no bounds, and she thrives on human companionship. Whether it`s cuddling on the couch or going for leisurely strolls, she`s always by your side, ready to shower you with love and devotion. And thanks to her impeccable leash manners, walks with Summer are not just enjoyable, but also a breeze.

Summer`s social skills are just as impressive as her sunny disposition. She has participated in playgroups with other dogs, where her friendly nature and playful antics have made her a beloved member of the pack. If you`re looking for a loyal and loving companion to brighten up your days and fill your heart with joy, look no further than Summer. With her boundless energy and unwavering affection, she`s ready to be the sunshine in your life!

More about this shelter

Volunteers needed now. Are you an animal lover, do you have a couple of hours each week to volunteer? Many opportunities available. Work with dogs, cats, bunnies, office work, fostering and more. For more details on volunteering contact Michelle Maltun at (805) 345-5741.

We care for stray and homeless animals, including cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, rabbits and other animals such as chickens, guinea pigs or iguanas. We always hope the family will come to reclaim their lost pet, but if not, we work to find a loving new family for them.

We ensure that dogs are current on their rabies vaccination and license.

At Animal Services, our goal is to ensure that all the animals in our County have a safe place to live. We work hard to find loving homes for the many dogs, cats, rabbits and other animals that come into our care. Together, with community partners and concerned citizens, we are making sure that all these animals have a "Forever Home!"
