MEET DAIA
The OG chill girl. Daia is a calm pup who is simply happy to be taken along with you. She enjoys long walks and playing in the dog park. Guaranteed she'll make friends wherever she goes :) I like to call her "smush" because of her cute snout - she loves when you snuggle it!
Fill out all below:
Personality & Characteristics:
Docile yet active and very cuddly. She is still a puppy so she needs distractions if you're busy - give her a snuffle toy or a puzzzle to keep her engaged in individual play! She is also very quiet - sometimes I lose track of her in my 1-bedroom apartment lol.
My foster dog is good with: (Dogs, Kids, Cats)
- GREAT with other dogs - she is always down to make friends! You can tell by her tail wag and gentle play in the dog park :)
- Kids, yes! She is so curious about kids, although because she is big for a puppy sometimes little ones are afraid of her. She always approaches gently when kiddos give her a chance though.
- Cats, not sure. There aren't any in my neighborhood but since she's a chill girl, I think she would be fine! Would def try first.
My foster dog is: (Crate trained, House trained, Low shed)
- Not crate trained. She doesn't take to it well, maybe due to past trauma :(
- Yes house trained! She learned very quickly to go potty outside. Now she will wait by the door or get visibly antsy and try to lead you to the door when she has to go. Pretty incredible for a pup so young.
- Low shed. Once bathed her shedding was very minimal.
3 Keywords for your pup:
- Calm
- Curious
- Quiet
Energy Level (1= calm, 10= high energy):
- Probably ~5. Playful and active, yet sleeps regularly after walks and all through the night.
Barker? Or Quiet Pup?:
- QUIET. I have never heard her bark. Sometimes whines when she needs to go outside or in the crate, but not a barker.
Walking Manners:
- Pretty good but still learning. We use a slip lead because she is strong and tends to pull when she sees rats at night, which is unfortunately very common in my area.
Appetite:
- Hungry girl! Very food-motivated. I keep all food in the cabinets or fridge because she will try to get to it.
Does the following: (Gets car sick, nervous outside, has separation anxiety, hates the bath, none of the above)
- Separation anxiety. When I leave she thinks it's the last time she'll ever see me, but rescue dogs don't know any better. I give her a bone to keep her distracted if I have to leave, but am never gone for a prolonged period while she is getting used to alone time.
Favorite Things:
- Long walks to dog park pipeline
- TREATZ
- Other dogs
- Cuddling <3
- Snoozing
Commands/Tricks:
- Sit and stay, sometimes down. We are learning paw right now. She learns quickly if you're consistent with it!
