My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Johnny Cash.…A 10-month-old lovable, expert snuggler, terrier blend puppy weighing 35 lbs. This smart pup adores people and is ready for his FURever home! AND....his adoption donation has been sponsored by an anonymous donor that wants to help set this sweet guy up for success!!

General Behavior: Johnny Cash is an energetic puppy who is an affectionate and playful “wiggle-butt”.  He is a social butterfly and loves to be around people.  He will offer kisses and truly wants to be your everything!
Likes & Dislikes: Johnny Cash loves his toys and rates “couch cuddling” high on his list. He loves taking short walks to do "his business" and meeting new people and dogs. This velcro pup wants to be with his person, so a patient an understanding adopter will need to continue working with him so he can gain confidence.
Training: He is doing great with his housetraining and will catch on quickly in a new home and new schedule. He is still a puppy who is learning basic manners and could use more practice with leash walking. He is food-motivated which lends itself to easier positive reinforcement training.
Medical: Johnny Cash takes daily joint supplements (as many large pups should). Other than that, he will simply require his monthly heartworm and flea prevention, like any dog.
Other Animals: He is still a puppy and he’s still learning how to introduce himself like a gentleman to other dogs. Johnny Cash loved the company of other playful, friendly dogs, but he had a bad experience with a pooch that wasn't a fan of his energy and the other dog attacked him. Since this event, he's been cautious of other dogs, so to err on the side of caution and comfort, we feel it's best that he's the only pooch in the home, at least for now. He needs to gain confidence and with slow, positive introductions in the future, hopefully he'll get comfortable and accept a playful friend again one day. He has not been introduced to cats, but due to his energy, we do not feel a home with cats would be ideal.
Children: A home with no small children would be best for him.  Only because at times his excitment gets the best of him and we wouldn't want a young child to get knocked over during a case of the zoomies.
Home:  His ideal home is one where his person is home more often than not. He does cry when initially left alone, so he would require a single-family home. He sleeps well at night, likely dreaming about playing, snuggling and watching TV with you. He also relaxes in style in his foster home with his extensive pajama collection.
Grooming:  With his short hair, he is a low-maintenance fella and will just require routine baths and nail trims.
Overall: If you are looking for a squishable, lovable puppy that truly wants to be YOUR everything, Johnny Cash is the one for you. Once you meet this fella, you may find it hard to resist him.

Are you the one for Johnny Cash?  Please visit our website, www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt.  You’ll be put in contact with his foster family if it’s a potential match.  Johnny Cash is fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped.  His adoption donation is $300 and will be covered in full by an anonymous donor that wants to help in setting this guy up for success!

We are a foster-based rescue organization and do not have a facility. We have all events posted on our website each month.

More about this rescue

Poodle and Pooch Rescue is a 501(c)3 non profit organization that saves dogs that truly need help. We rescue the "leftovers" from animal control, the dogs nobody wants because they're older or suffer from neglect, abuse or have a medical need. Their "last" day becomes the first day of their new life. We provide the veterinary care they need, a foster family they love and when they're ready, we adopt them to a family who cherishes them. We do not have a physical shelter because every dog lives with one of our foster families. We are all volunteers so your tax-deductible donation goes directly to help the dogs. We have saved over 5,500 dogs since 2008.
