Hi, I'm Walter! I've had it rough the last few years, but I was very fortunate when I was rescued. Unfortunately, I was in pretty bad shape, but they're helping me heal. My front leg was really badly injured, so I had to have it amputated. I'm healing though, and I'm getting lots of rest and scritches in my foster home. I am also deaf, or mostly deaf, but you can wake me up gently and I don't startle easily. I have doggy and kitty brothers and sisters there come up to my gate sometimes, but I haven't been able to meet them yet because I am healing. I need lots of TLC and rest to help me recover from being alone so long, but I am getting healthy, and I look forward to showing them who's boss.
I really love napping, and I am a stubborn guy. I have a favorite bed, and I don't care what I'm offered that's the only one I want to use. When I'm grumpy or not feeling good sometimes I need extra attention in order to eat my food and take my meds. I still need a little encouragement to get up and move around sometimes, but I'm getting better at it. I have to build up lots of new muscles in order to be able to run around again.
When I get really excited, I might give you a love bite, and I am a bit tender, maybe from arthritis and just not being used to so much attention. I would not be a great fit for a house with kids or someone who doesn't have cat experience. I would do well in a calm house, where I can get lots of naps and pets on demand. I will probably need some basic assistance like stairs or raised food bowls, but my foster mom says I am going to be a handsome and strong old man.
My adoption fee of $100 includes up-to-date vaccinations, dewormer, and heartworm/flea prevention. Plus, a microchip that is already registered to you! What more could you ask for?
If you'd like to meet me, please fill out an application on our website, PawmettoLifeline.org. Adoptions are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please fill out the online application, and you will be contacted if you are approved and are a good fit for one of our adoptable pets.
