Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Valentina would love to meet you! She is very friendly with everyone and has the best smile! This gorgeous pit mix came in as a stray and has quickly become a staff favorite. Now it's time for us to help Valentina find a forever home. Come by and meet her today!
Valentina is one year old and weighs 48 pounds.
The adoption fee for adult dogs, seven months and older, is $250. All pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you are interested in meeting a dog, please stop by the shelter during open hours. Dogs may be in a foster home, therefore scheduling an appointment is recommended. If you have an existing dog at home, we recommend bringing it along to meet your possible new family member. helpingstrays.org
Valentina has heartworms and will be starting treatment soon. She would greatly benefit from having a calm home to recuperate in rather than trying to rest in a noisy and stressful shelter environment. If you would like to provide a foster home during Valentina's heartworm treatment, Helping Strays will provide everything you need; the medical care, crate, food, etc. Valentina can still be adopted but will need to come back to the shelter periodically to complete her treatment which is covered in the adoption fee.

Go meet their pets
We welcome you to stop by our facility located at 4221 Hanover Road in Columbia, IL.
We promote the humane care of all abandoned and stray animals in our community. We are a no-kill shelter. All of our pets leave the shelter for their forever homes micro-chipped, up to date on vaccines, and altered.
Founded in 2002, Helping Strays is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization supported entirely by donations.
Our lucky animals receive appropriate medical care, are featured on the Helping Strays website "adoption list" and are taken to several adoption events every month in an attempt to find permanent, loving homes.
