My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Courtesy post Meet Hank (or Big Ben, as he's lovingly called)! Hank is a sweet, 6-year-old Great Dane Lab mix with a heart as big as his 90-pound frame. Originally adopted as a puppy through Last Chance Rescue, Hank is now fully vaccinated, neutered, and on Nextgard and Heartgard. He’s had some tough times, including a nasty staph skin infection, but thanks to treatment, he's back to good health with a shiny coat and a clean bill from the vet. Despite his difficult past—spending his days tied to a 10 ft cable with no one to play with—Hank’s gentle, humble spirit has remained intact. He’s house trained, loves his chicken dinners, and even though he doesn’t quite know how to play yet, he’s eager to learn and craves companionship. He’s dog-friendly, showing no aggression even around small dogs, but he does have a habit of chasing cats. Hank was initially terrified of car rides and baths, but with patience and love, he’s already showing signs of improvement. When scared, he freezes, but never acts out aggressively—he’s truly just a big softie at heart. Hank is ready for a fresh start with a family who can offer him the love, attention, and companionship he deserves. If you’re ready to welcome this sweet, big guy into your home, please contact 703-215-7032. Let’s give Hank the loving home he’s been waiting for!November 6, 2024, 10:29 am

More about this rescue

Adopt a Homeless Animal Rescue (AAHA) is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and assisting animals in crisis. We actively combat animal cruelty in any form.

We have a particular commitment to pit bulls and aim to raise awareness about the breed, help those in need, and educate the public:
•We seek to promote this lovely yet unfairly maligned breed as the sweet, intelligent, affectionate, and people-oriented dogs they are.
•We assume stewardship over their well-being and strive to make this world a better place for them.
•We serve as a resource and/or liaison for shelters, individuals, and the community at large, advocating for any animal in harm's way.
•We also function in an advisory role for private citizens who seek assistance and guidance in better caring for their pets.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Please help us help the animals!
