My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cowboy is a gentle soul with a heart as big as his ears! At 9 years old, this timid Queensland Heeler has a quiet demeanor and a soft, shy disposition. He might take a little time to warm up to new faces, but with a dose of calm and consistent energy, he’s sure to become your loyal and loving companion.

Cowboy is currently at the shelter with his good friend, Daryl. They share a special bond and are very well-behaved together, especially when they’re outside enjoying their time in the kennels. Cowboy’s patience and kindness shine through in his interactions with Daryl, and he’s sure to bring the same warmth to a loving home.

If you’re looking for a sweet-natured dog who appreciates a gentle approach and is ready to form a meaningful connection, Cowboy might just be the perfect match for you. Come meet him and see if you’re the one to help him feel safe and cherished in a forever home.

More about this shelter

Volunteers needed now. Are you an animal lover, do you have a couple of hours each week to volunteer? Many opportunities available. Work with dogs, cats, bunnies, office work, fostering and more. For more details on volunteering contact Michelle Maltun at (805) 345-5741.

We care for stray and homeless animals, including cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, rabbits and other animals such as chickens, guinea pigs or iguanas. We always hope the family will come to reclaim their lost pet, but if not, we work to find a loving new family for them.

We ensure that dogs are current on their rabies vaccination and license.

At Animal Services, our goal is to ensure that all the animals in our County have a safe place to live. We work hard to find loving homes for the many dogs, cats, rabbits and other animals that come into our care. Together, with community partners and concerned citizens, we are making sure that all these animals have a "Forever Home!"
