My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!

Macy arrived at her fosters’ and made herself at home right away. She claimed a patio chair, a bed pillow and the car’s front passenger seat. She “sheltie pranced” her way into her fosters’ home and hearts as though she had been there forever. Macy likes to empty out the toy box when she plays alone but also enjoys playing with the other dogs in the house. She is learning that cats are not for chasing, but she’s still finding it hard to resist the chase. Macy is a complicated but typical sheltie, in that she is a bit timid when meeting new people, yet acts fearless almost all of the time. When she meets dogs on walks, she does the sheltie barking thing. Macy is smart and learning new commands quickly as well as house training.

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs please go directly to www.almosthomeohio.org for an application. Once the application is submitted, our adoption team can discuss the information on the application with you to determine if one of our dogs would be a good fit for your home. Lastly, a home visit will be done either by one of our volunteers or another reputable rescue volunteer in your area. We do adopt out of state, but it is up to the adopter to come meet and take the dog home. Sound like a lot to go through for a dog? It really isn't as complicated as it seems and it's the best way to ensure a good match. Please contact adoptions@almosthomeohio.org with any additional questions you may have after reviewing the information on our website.

More about this rescue

Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio is made up of a small (but growing) group of enthusiastic volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of homeless dogs. Our background is with purebred collies and collie mixes but on occasion, we have other "family friendly" breeds. If you are searching for a collie, we'd like to help you find a wonderful companion that fits your family's lifestyle. All of our dogs are fully vaccinated and are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. They have also been tested and are negative for heartworm and are on heartworm preventative.
