My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

These two sweethearts are likely mother and son (Lori is 5, Barney is 2) and have never been
apart, as far as we know. Lori seems to be the alpha. They need time to warm up to strangers,
especially men. Lori is protective in the house toward folks walking by and somewhat aggressive
with other dogs, but she’s pretty relaxed around people once she gets to know them. Barney is
excited and a bit nervous around new people and other dogs, jumping and barking, but once he
knows folks he’s friendly.

Lori seems to find larger dogs threatening. Barney seems curious. We haven’t had the opportunity to meet cats yet but on walks, Lori seems to be showing a prey drive
when she sees one. Neither dog has been exposed to children one on one, just walking past. We’re working on making that happen. We’re working on good potty habits. At least one has gone
indoors (in the bathroom on a rug) but both generally go outside and on walks.

They are crate trained for sleep and they like napping in their beds which are in the crate. They are okay
together in their crate when I leave to run errands, but Barney cries, barks and whines at first. He also cries when I take Lori out to walk separately, and he barks when he’s excited
or whines for attention. or if I leave them with my dad at first. These behaviors are changing as we all get to know each other better. They are very happy running around the house and patio or
curled up and resting. They also love their toys and wrestle and play tug with some. Although they enjoy walking, they also love climbing up on a chair and looking out the window or lying in
the sun. They would be great companions for elders who may have limited space.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Whether you are interested in a specific dog or would like us to recommend a dog that fits you best, you can expect the following adoption process:

1. The first step in the adoption process is to complete an Application. http://rescueachi.com/adoption-application/ We will review your application and verify the information upon receiving it. If you rent your home, your landlord will be contacted for approval so it is important to make sure to include your landlord’s name and number on the application.

2. Once your application is approved, we will make arrangements for you to meet the dog in person. This interview is usually arranged by the dog’s foster family and may take place at your home or mutual location. We encourage everyone who lives in the household, especially children and other pets to meet and interact with the dog during this interview.

3. CRSD reserves the right to visit your home for an inspection during the adoption process.

4. Once you are approved, you will be asked to sign a legally binding Adoption Contract and pay an adoption fee.

Adoption Fees
Because we are an all-volunteer group, 100% of all adoption fees are used to cover medical expenses for the dogs in our rescue. Medical treatments include general health exams, dogs spay/neuter surgery, dental work, vaccinations, flea preventative medicals, microchip and microchip registration.

Any additional donation would be greatly appreciated, and this portion may be tax-deductible. Donations help us to continue to care for these special dogs.

More about this rescue

We are a rescue consisting of an all volunteer organization where all of our dogs are in private homes everyday. We do not have a shelter and our dogs are not kept in cages. Our dogs are from county animals shelters or from previous owners that are no longer able to care for their dog. All of our dogs are started on housebreaking, however, we do not guarantee that they will be housebroken. We offer education on how to housebreak a dog as well as other information on different situations. Every dog is spayed or neutered, current on shots, dewormed, frontline for fleas and ticks. Thank you for considering a rescue dog!!!
