Here's what the humans have to say about me:
🐶 🐕 PENNY Female Border collie mix approximately 1 year, 28 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶
Meet PENNY Lane, a 28-pound, one-year-old Border Collie who's blossoming as she progresses through adolescence. Social and friendly, PENNY enjoys spending time with both people and other dogs, and she loves a good romp in the yard. With her strong herding instincts, PENNY will thrive best with an owner who has experience with Border Collies and understands their unique needs.
PENNY is a sensitive young lady and can be a bit uncertain in new situations, but with the right support and advocacy from her humans during those challenging moments, she quickly realizes she’s safe. Being food motivated, PENNY responds well to training methods like counter-conditioning and desensitization. Patience is key with PENNY as she adjusts to her new surroundings, but your kindness and understanding will be rewarded tenfold with her love and snuggles. She’s the perfect companion for someone who values a deep connection and is willing to give her the time and patience she needs to blossom.
On leash, PENNY walks well and stays connected to her handler. She’s a bit of a social butterfly, often wiggling and moving towards people she meets during a walk, eager for everyone to greet her. However, when it’s time to move on, she easily returns to her handler and continues on her way.
PENNY is good with other dogs that respect her boundaries and can help show her the ropes, However, her canine friends need to be tolerant of her strong herding instincts, as she believes that herding is just part of being friends.
PENNY loves her toys and is content to settle down on a dog bed with a bone for an extended chew session. However, if you’re not able to actively supervise her, it’s best to keep PENNY tucked away in a crate or pen. She should definitely be crated when her humans leave, as she’s still in her “puppy” phase and can be a bit mischievous, getting into things she shouldn’t.
PENNY should not live with cats or young children due to her strong herding instincts. She will make a great pet dog, but is not likely a good sport dog candidate.
PENNY is looking for a calm and quiet home where she can build confidence and trust at her own pace. With the right person by her side, PENNY is sure to flourish into a loving and loyal companion. If you have the patience and love to help PENNY feel safe and secure, she will reward you with her quiet devotion and gentle companionship.
PENNY is micro-chipped, spayed, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to inquire about PENNY, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.
PENNY is being fostered in Orangevale in Sacramento County, CA.
