My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, human. I'm Goober, but everyone around here calls me "Goobs" because I'm a silly boy that makes them laugh. But there's more to me than comedy. Take a look at my stunning warm eyes and multicolor coat with beautiful markings. I have cute freckly paws to boot, too. I'm just such a happy guy that just wants to be your good pal and snuggle source. Hey, I'm smart, too! I already know "come" and "sit". And, if you have a ball handy, give it a toss and I'll bring it back to you. I'm great with other folks and have had successful playdates with dogs. I can't wait to meet you and bring a happy "snort" and big smile to your face.

A team member adds, "He loves the park, and immediately starts running upon entrance. Runs after ball, but likes to leap up on the human with a strong push to engage play. The stick/rope was effective to get him to run and focus on the toy and not engage the human. Once tired out, he was easy to put back in kennel."

More about this shelter

Founded in 1965, Animal Humane New Mexico is the state’s leading private 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organization serving more than 10,000 homeless and at-risk dogs & cats each year. We never euthanize based on age or length of stay and since 2010, have re-homed 100% of healthy pets in our care. We support every companion animal at Animal Humane with outstanding veterinary, social and emotional care, and love.

As a private nonprofit shelter, we receive no city, state or federal funding; each dollar judiciously spent is earned or raised. We are nationally recognized as a top U.S. charity based on financial accountability, transparency, and administrative-to-program cost ratios. Animal Humane is among only 9 percent of nationwide charities to have received five consecutive annual four-star evaluations, the highest possible, from Charity Navigator, including a top score of 100 for accountability and transparency.
