My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I'm a sweet girl with personality and the cutest ears you've ever seen. I'm good with other doggos and have had many enjoyable playgroups here at Animal Humane. When it's hot outside, I like to jump into the little wading pool in our playgroup park and roll around to cool off. I can be a little shy when meeting new folks, but I warm up quickly and then become a total love bug. I can't wait to meet you and show you what a good girl I am!

A team member says: "She loves to sit by your side and watch the world go by...especially if you scratch her cute ears. She also likes to meet other people."

Another team member notes, "You can spot Sierra anywhere by those ridiculously cute ears. She's always happy to see you and is pretty laid-back. She'd be a great pal to have nearby when you're watching TV, reading a book or having a cup of coffee."

Adoptions are completed on a first come, first served basis. Please note there may be a wait to meet with a pet, dependent on advisor availability.

Please allow plenty of time to meet your perfect pet. Once you have selected a pet, the adoption process will take at least 30 minutes. We do not begin the adoption process after 5:30 pm.

Animal Humane New Mexico performs a background check on all adopters & does not adopt to anyone who has committed a violent crime. We reserve the right to refuse an adoption for any reason.

Please note, visitors must wear their mask indoors at all Animal Humane locations.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1965, Animal Humane New Mexico is the state’s leading private 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organization serving more than 10,000 homeless and at-risk dogs & cats each year. We never euthanize based on age or length of stay and since 2010, have re-homed 100% of healthy pets in our care. We support every companion animal at Animal Humane with outstanding veterinary, social and emotional care, and love.

As a private nonprofit shelter, we receive no city, state or federal funding; each dollar judiciously spent is earned or raised. We are nationally recognized as a top U.S. charity based on financial accountability, transparency, and administrative-to-program cost ratios. Animal Humane is among only 9 percent of nationwide charities to have received five consecutive annual four-star evaluations, the highest possible, from Charity Navigator, including a top score of 100 for accountability and transparency.
