My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking for an absolute bundle of love, cuddles, and joy to add to your family?!

Meet Toby! Toby is a beautiful and handsome 1.5 year old super mutt who seems to be wearing cow skin. He is a truly loyal and loving soul whose main goals in life are to be safe and cozy with his people, rough house and run around with his doggy besties, and eat as much food and yummy treats as doggily possible. He’s an incredible hiking and running buddy, and does incredibly well off leash (he’s even gone backcountry skiing and backpacking!), and would definitely do best in a family where he could have a best doggy friend to play with. He also would be so happy to have a kitty friend! Toby loves cats and in his current home snuggles up with his cat bestie.

The first 4 months of Toby’s life he was a stray, and as a result he gets very attached to his people. Toby is going to need some work on his feelings of anxiety, in particular his occasional stress with unknown people when in unknown and new environments. For example, when a stranger grabbed his collar to stop him from going indoors while he was separated from his owner and far from home, Toby bit their wrist. With an observant caretaker, these behaviors are easily managed before they escalate. Additionally, while Toby has done just fine with a number of the younger people he has met, we think Toby would be best suited in a home without children. The high energy unpredictability of children can make him a little anxious and he has lunged at an adolescent who was not understanding his boundaries (again, far from home when Toby was already anxious). But rest assured, he really is a massive lover of people, and at home and in safe settings, he’s ready to give anyone he meets a ton of face kisses.

Toby’s dream family is a settled, active couple with a dog (or multiple dogs) and experience with animal behavior. He also needs a nice backyard with room to play and run around. He needs new parents who are ready and excited to cuddle, play, be loved, receive a lot of kisses, have a constant companion in their lives, and oh yea! be snuggled with each and every night by this love bug.
