FURBEE NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Furbee Best Guess for Breed: Chihuahua mix
Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of August 2024 Gender: Male
Approximate Weight: 9 lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats but he can be tested.
We would be cautious placing Furbee in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare small breed dogs with their level of energy or noise. Children would need to be supervised closely to ensure their interactions with the dog are calm and gentle in nature. We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.
Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get his freedom ride up here!
Special Adoption Considerations: Furbee is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.
We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Furbee is Looking For: His forever home! This utterly adorable little pup landed in the shelter through no fault of his own. He's eager to once again have his own humans for sniffy walks and world exploration - and snuggles! (please, some dignity here - he'd like to explore the world on his own four paws and not from in the confines of a purse.)
He'd also like quality kibble and a cushy dog bed. But you know what he wants most of all? To know he's safe and loved and under hiso wn roof. In exchange, he promises adoring gazes and snuggles and loyal companionship.
What do you say? Can you see him trotting down there by your ankle?
What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time in foster care
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.
