My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I'm a savvy cat who knows the score. I'm pretty unflappable, too. I don't mind entertaining myself, but a human companion at the other end of the couch and a nice scratch behind the ears always make my day. But I am Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) positive which compromises my immune system, making me more susceptible to infections. FIV can only infect cats, so no risk of transmission to humans or dogs. Any cat can be infected, but FIV is most commonly diagnosed in intact, outdoor cats which I was formerly. There are no specific treatments for FIV infection but if I begin showing clinical signs of secondary infections, these should be treated as appropriate for the infection. The most important management tool is reducing the risk of illness through regular preventive care, veterinary visits, and a well-balanced diet. Maintaining a low-stress environment for these cats is important since stress can increase susceptibility to illness. With proper care, infected cats typically have an average lifespan and a good quality of life.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Fees vary depending on a number of factors including age, type of animal and spay/neuter status. If an animal is not spayed/neutered prior to leaving the shelter, adopters are required to sign a contract agreeing to have the animal altered within a set time frame. Adoption fees, if any, include a certificate to assist with spay/neuter costs. All animals leaving the facility are microchipped and adopters receive a free vet visit as part of the adoption process. All our cats have tested free of feline disease and all adult spayed/neutered cats can be adopted for no fee.
