I'm a savvy cat who knows the score. I'm pretty unflappable, too. I don't mind entertaining myself, but a human companion at the other end of the couch and a nice scratch behind the ears always make my day. But I am Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) positive which compromises my immune system, making me more susceptible to infections. FIV can only infect cats, so no risk of transmission to humans or dogs. Any cat can be infected, but FIV is most commonly diagnosed in intact, outdoor cats which I was formerly. There are no specific treatments for FIV infection but if I begin showing clinical signs of secondary infections, these should be treated as appropriate for the infection. The most important management tool is reducing the risk of illness through regular preventive care, veterinary visits, and a well-balanced diet. Maintaining a low-stress environment for these cats is important since stress can increase susceptibility to illness. With proper care, infected cats typically have an average lifespan and a good quality of life. Primary Color: Calico Weight: 7.6 Age: 3yrs 1mths 1wks
