My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lucky is truly a lucky boy! He was turned in to a high kill Ca shelter with a fractured front leg. (He has since recovered and has no activity limitations). They immediately sent him to their vet to be euthanized. The vet found that he’s a very sweet, affectionate, easy going, 60lb boy and they wanted to save his life. Lucky enough, we’ve worked with this vet in previous rescue endeavors so they reached out for help. After considerable negotiations with the shelter, they agreed to release ownership to us. Thank goodness! We had no idea how wonderful he really is! Lucky gets along great with other dogs and would actually do best with another easy going dog in the home. He’s tolerant of young puppy energy but he’s about 6yrs old now and much prefers a middle aged pal to hang out with. He also wonderful with kitties. He’s wonderful with people, too, so kids over 8yrs old is fine. He is very affectionate so lots of cuddle time is required. Lucky loves to be outside to just hang out and explore so a 5ft or higher securely fenced yard is required. He is completely house and crate trained so he can be left home alone for a reasonable amount of hours. Lucky walks great on a leash but he can sometimes get a little anxious when he sees other dogs, unless he’s walking with his k9 pal. So an experienced person that can walk two dogs is best. This very special boy is ready for his own, very lucky home that will take him hiking, camping and give him lots of cuddle time.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Interested adopters should email info@k9rr.org to request an application. Once complete, the application can be returned via email and quickly reviewed. If approved, we then invite potential adopters to visit with one or more of the dogs that interest them. If the meet and greet goes well, we encourage a week long "trial adoption" to ensure a good match. During that week we communicate often and are available for support and guidance, via phone or email, 24/7.

Unless otherwise specified, K9 R&R adoption fees range from $350-$500 and include all vetting and microchip. We also provide ongoing training tips and help as needed, for the life of the dogs.

K9 R&R is a non-profit, volunteer based organization.

More about this rescue

K9 R&R rescues dogs from shelters and other various facilities across the nation, but focusing primarily on those throughout the west coast. In addition, we help re-home family pets of owners who can no longer care for them. K9 R&R assesses and works with every dog prior to adopting them out and continues to provide support to adopters for the entire life of the dog. K9 Rescue & Rehab was founded with the desire to provide a more thorough, inclusive, supportive approach to dog rescue and re-homing. When adopting a K9 R&R dog, you are not only adding a new family member, but are becoming part of an extended family that is always there to support you in hard times and celebrate with you in joyful ones.
