My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please give a warm welcome to Eliza Doolittle!

She came to SAAP very pregnant ready to give birth any day. On the day of her delivery, she gave birth to 12 - yes 12 puppies!! Sadly over the course of a few weeks, 4 had passed away. The remaining 8 were thriving and doing very well! Eliza was a great mother to all of them. The puppies have since been adopted and now it is Eliza’s turn to find her perfect furever home.

Eliza is a medium size dog. She currently weighs about 45 pounds. She is a low to medium energy dog. She LOVES people and dogs and LOVES to play! I do not have young children in my foster home but I think she would be good with kids. She is the absolute most sweetest girl with the most loving kisses. Even the vet staff commented on how sweet she was (especially for being in a strange and stressful environment). And as an added bonus, she has ignored the resident cat! Eliza does fairly well in her crate. She keeps it clean (i.e., no potty accidents); she does whine a bit but will quickly settle down. She goes into her crate with a bribe (treats); otherwise, I do have to nudge her in. I highly recommend she be crated when you are not home as she does like to explore and get into things. She would do great in a home with a fenced in yard (privacy fence as she can jump a 4 ft fence)or a home where she would get regular walks/exercise.  She is not super barky like some hounds so I think she would do fine in a house or an apartment. Apply today to meet this sweet girl and you will not be disappointed!!

Additional adoption info

You are required to sign a legally binding contact on your new pet. As part of that contract, should you no longer be able to keep the animal for any reason, the animal MUST be surrendered back to SAAP. This is to ensure the animal is placed back in foster care while we secure a new approved home for the animal. However, we always try to ensure that the initial placement is best for the pet and your family. We reserve the right to refuse any adoption.

More about this rescue

We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non profit organization. We are dedicated to the rescue of animals that are in need of a forever home. Our animals are fostered in homes where we provide love, food, medical care and socialization until adoption into a new loving home. We educate on the importance of spaying and neutering of all pets.

We ensure all animals have been spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They are micro-chipped, up to date on shots and on heartworm and anti-flea medications (as age appropriate). They are ready and waiting to start their new life with their fur-ever family. Could that be you?

We need your help to continue our mission. We rely solely on donations and fundraisers. All donations are tax-deductible and 100% of your donation will go towards the rescue, care, and medical needs of the animals.

If you need info on a cat or kitten please contact 859-391-2944
