My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*** In order to alleviate the need to bring an animal into the shelter environment, The Anti-Cruelty Society has the Home-to-Home Shelter Bypass service to help people find new accommodations for their pets privately. These animals are not located in any of the Society's physical locations. If you are interested in adopting this animal, please do NOT click the Adopt Me button and instead reach out to the current owner directly via the email provided in the profile. As this is a Home-to-Home animal you are not required to fill out an Anti-Cruelty Society adoption application form. ***

When we first adopted her, Penny was extremely anxious (would barely go outside, would not eat, often too scared to use the bathroom, hid from people, etc.). Over the past 2 months we worked with her vet to get her on Prozac, have been working with a positive reinforcement trainer, and have been doing our best to acclimate her to the world.

Inside the house, Penny is a loving dog. She is generally low energy, likes laying on her bed to relax, plays with her toys, and wants to be close to her owners. She is also good with the baby and will sit at my feet whenever I hold him.

However, she has become increasingly anxious outside the house. She becomes overwhelmed by the sounds and stressors of city life.

Penny is housebroken and crate trained. She is up to date on vaccinations, and we also microchipped her. We have a cat at home that she also does well with. She just went through her first heat cycle, but she is not yet spayed. She knows basic commands such as sit, lay down, and place.
