My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet our big adorable sweet potato Aurora!

This princess has the sweetest face and is a real doll. Aurora lived her whole life in a home prior to arriving at our shelter! She is crate trained, has had good interactions with kitties, she loves her toys and used to be housed here with a doggie pal named Pretzel. Aurora lives in Kennel number 8 and is hoping you will be her new friend!

More about this shelter

Humane Society for Inland Mendocino County, HSIMC, is a non-profit animal rescue and adoption center. Our team is dedicated to rescuing and placing abandoned and displaced animals into loving homes.

As a 501(c)(3), we receive no government funding and rely heavily on our community of supporters, grants, and fundraising.

We are located in Redwood Valley and hope you come visit us and the animals in our care. We also have many volunteer opportunities and invite you to join our team!

Volunteer orientation occurs the first Thursday and last Sunday of each month at 11am. Please check in at the front office, no appointment necessary. The orientation lasts about 45 minutes and anyone interested in dog walking can sign up for a 1:1 dog walking orientation with a senior volunteer or staff member. Our volunteers are welcome to volunteer anytime during open hours.

We hope to see you soon!
