Ok with some dogs
Hello, my name is Spunky, and I am a handsome black cocker spaniel (my name I am told is a very good description of my personality). I was surrender by my last owner because I would get nervous and scared around a lot of people and young kids. I am not aggressive; I would just bark a lot. My foster mom says that I am very vocal, and I like to tell people when I am feeling nervous or scared. Due to this I am a little slow to warm up to people, but I am getting better. I am very curious but sometimes I get scared. Once I warm up to you though I will be your best friend and cuddle buddy.
Some things you should know about me if you are interested in adopting me. I am a barker, and I like to protect the house so I will do best in a quite environment. I do have some separation anxiety. If you leave to go to a different room or outside without me I will cry. I am good in my kennel when my foster parents leave. I will cry at first but eventually I settle down. I have a ton of energy so I need lots of attention and walks. If I don’t get the energy out I will look for your shoes or clothes to get your attention. I am pretty good with cats and some dogs. I do better with a passive dog because I do tend to be a little protective of my toys. I am getting better at playing but I am still needing to be supervised if I play with my foster brother. Sometimes we get out of hand. Also, I am hoping you do not like your yard too much because I am a digger, and I like to run around the yard and dig holes. I am also scared of thunder so when it storms my foster parents will hold me or give me some medication to calm my nerves.
Overall though I am looking for someone that can be patient with me while I learn to trust them. I am a good dog and graduated from my beginner class. I know lots of skills and love to play fetch. I love walks but I do like to chase cars. My foster parents got me a gentle leader that helps with stopping me from chasing them. I don’t like it, but I will tolerate it on my walks.
I am neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm tested and on monthly preventative. Do I sound like a good fit for your home?

SOCKS adopts to families in Florida, Georgia, Southern Alabama and southeastern Mississippi. If you are out of the state of Florida you would need to travel to Florida to complete your adoption. Please note that we do check vet references and your current pets must be up to date on vaccinations, Heartworm testing and be able to provide proof of purchase of HW prevention. All dogs and cats in your home must be spayed or neutered. We will not set up a meet and greet until your application has been received, reviewed and approved. Adoptions are not done on a first come first served basis. We will accept applications and then screen all and choose the best match. Only approved applicants will be contacted.
