My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Virginia Woof!
If you want the perfect cuddle buddy, look no further!! This gentle giant's favorite things are cuddles and nap time. Whether you want a good snuggle or a friend to binge-watch shows with, Virginia is your perfect gal. Virginia is an easy, laid-back dog. Her sweet, calm personality is perfect for anyone who might work from home, have a big family, or enjoy having guests. Maybe you've been looking for a big dog, but you've been nervous because you're older or you've got little kids around? Virginia is your girl! She doesn't jump, she doesn't like to bark, and she's amazing with kids of all ages. Now, she doesn't play with toys often, but she does enjoy sunbathing outside on a nice day! On rainy days? That's a lazy day. And if it thunders, she'll be just fine as long as she can sit at your side. When I say this is the most loving, laidback dog you'll ever meet, I mean it!
Her only request? She'd love to have your full attention as an only dog. At 6-years-old, Virginia's shared a lot of places with other pets. Here in the prime of her life, she would love to have a cozy home to herself. Aside from that, Virginia doesn't ask for a lot. Her ideal day is dozing away on a comfy couch and someone who loves her by her side. I hope you can be that person for her!

More about this rescue

A New Leash on Life has a goal of saving all the adoptable pets about to die in the municipal shelters of Alabama until we become a NO KILL state. We rescue, provide veterinary care, provide a foster home or adoption center spot, and find adopters who are good matches for homeless dogs and cats...AND horses, pigs, rabbits, and any other animal who needs our help. All animals are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, microchip, vaccines, testing (HW for dogs, FIV/Felv for cats), and whatever else they need before adoption.
