My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Piney recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what his DDO buddy had to say!

"Say hello to Piney, the ultimate love bug!

Piney is a distinguished gentleman at 7 years old and weighs just about 50 lbs. He has the softest white fur, the mushiest of faces and a nice solid body that is a perfect weighted blanket when he decides to settle in your lap.

But that's not all about Piney, Piney has a secret power - he's deaf! Things that might deter other dogs such as loud concerts, overstimulating big crowds, loud sports, and barking dogs, Piney can be down for it all. Piney came out for a day of paintball spectating and had an amazing time saying hello to everyone, casually watching matches, and getting all the snuggles from our onlooking spot.

Everyone there was in awe of how loving and affectionate he is. Piney is truly looking for a person to give all his love to and becomes an attentive companion once building trusts with a fellow human. With how much Piney loves on others, he may be best in a home all to his own or have another laid back companion that is okay sharing the love.

Though Piney could not hear commands he walks well on a leash and pays attention to visual and touch directions. Piney loves treats and especially enjoys a good chew for a car ride to help him settle in. He currently needs a buddy to join him in the back as he builds confidence in a car, but with more time and treats this could change.

If you are looking for a dog to be obsessed with you, look no further than Piney! Please visit him any day but Tuesday from 12-4 at the shelter to experience the obsession yourself."

As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines.

To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
