My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Eileen, a spunky little warrior with a heart full of love and determination! Despite a rough start and a spinal cord injury that left her paralyzed in her rear legs, Eileen has made incredible progress under our care. While she still relies on her wheelchair to get around, she's mastered the art of zooming around with her front legs and loves to explore her surroundings with the help of her trusty wheels.

Eileen's journey isn't over yet-she continues to make small strides every day and might keep surprising us with her progress over the next few months. However, this sweet girl will likely need her wheelchair for the rest of her life. That doesn't slow her down one bit, though! Eileen is ready to roll into her forever home, where she can continue to receive the love, care, and support she needs to live her best life.

Eileen will be going home with her current wheelchair, but as she grows, she may need a new set of wheels to keep her moving and grooving. We recommend staying in touch with your veterinarian to make sure she always has the right tools to stay active and independent.

If you're ready to open your heart to this resilient and loving pup, fill out an adoption application on our website or stop by the shelter to meet Eileen in person. She can't wait to find her forever family!

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is proud to be a no-kill animal welfare agency. We are committed to finding great homes for great pets! As a 501(c)(3) nonproft, we receive no government funding and rely solely on donations from individuals, companies and grants to fund our programs and services. We are not affiliated with any other animal agency on a local, state or national level. Since 1902, our organization has been devoted to being a voice for the voiceless. Although we proudly find more than 2,000 animals forever homes every year, we are far more than an adoption center. We currently have a wide array of programs to support animals in our community. Through our high-volume spay and neuter clinic, we are able to help pet owners as well as battle cat overpopulation through Trap-Neuter-Return. Our humane society agents also work tirelessly to protect pets from cruel and neglectful circumstances through our Cruelty & Neglect Investigations Department. Through our Veterinary Hospital, we can provide top-quality access to veterinary care at a low cost to pet owners. In addition to our many programs, our organization is unique because we are the only agency in the community able to handle all types of animals. This includes cats and dogs but also rabbits, birds, farm animals, pocket pets and exotics. Our organization is committed to providing our community, our state and our region with support and care.
