My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a weim whose heart is as big as his paws? I want to introduce you to Husker Weim Rescue, Inc, foster guy Remington. At the young age of 9 years old, Remi is up to date on vaccinations, neutered and is well mannered. He listens to most commands when he wants or when he thinks he is getting a treat. He is crate trained and house broke. He is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met. He loves laying his head on your chest and looking at you or leaning against your leg while you’re standing. He is not a licker, but he does not know personal space. He has been fantastic with our cat and our 10 year old lab, he does bark at people / dogs walking on the sidewalk but otherwise he’s pretty quiet besides his flatulence.

He does need his exercise and when we go for walks with both dogs, people think he is only a couple years old. He is still very spunky for his age and can be onery. He has done very well with our older children, and he can be off leash when we are working around the house without concern of him running off. We have always leashed him when we see people or dogs coming around, although I feel he would just want to say hi. He comes when called and loves his car rides. However, he does not like loud noises or quick movements. He can be a scaredy cat when it comes to certain things. He does not show much of a prey drive, I have never seen him chase anything yet, besides me walking with his food bowl. His future home will need certain things to provide him with his best life. He will need consistent exercise, yes he can lay around for a bit but he likes to be moving. Ideally, he would have a large backyard to run around in, he likes to lay in the shade with a chew toy as well. Most of all he wants to be involved with everyone. He also will need a certain diet to keep the flatulence to a minimum. His stomach does not seem to like any chicken by products. If you think you can meet his requirements, I can promise that you will never find another dog that will love you as much as Remington will.

More about this rescue

Husker Weim Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)3. We are a volunteer run organization. We have no paid staff or board members. We rely on foster homes. We are not a shelter. At Husker Weim Rescue, Inc, we have dedicated our lives to rescuing and saving homeless, unwanted, abandoned, neglected, and abused Weimaraners and Weimaraner mixes. We also accept owner surrenders and stray surrenders.

Many people think when a rescue is suggested for their Weim, it's because they are abused, neglected, or abandoned but that is not always the case. Sometimes it's a change of lifestyle for their owners. We strive to provide a smooth change of lifestyle for the Weimaraner as they start a new journey with a new family. We have no age limits. If a Weimaraner needs help, we help. No dog is left behind.

We are completely funded by donations. Donations make rescues and rehabilitation possible, along with finding these beautiful, smart, and extremely friendly animals homes.
