My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Needs a fenced yard - not an apartment dog!* Because Joy has specific requirements, her adoption is not first come first served.

Meet Joy, a 6-month-old terrier mix with a lively spirit and boundless energy! Joy came all the way from Louisiana to find her new family, and she's ready to bring a lot of excitement into the right home. This high-energy girl thrives in an active environment where she can get plenty of exercise, both mental and physical. Whether it's a long hike, a challenging puzzle toy, or a game of fetch, Joy is always up for a new adventure. She also appears house trained!

When out on walks, Joy can be reactive to other dogs, so she'll need an experienced owner who can help her work on this behavior, or someone who lives away from other dogs and is happy to avoid them. She may be able to live with another dog in the future with training, but she should start as your only pet. She is also very excited about chasing moving objects, so she should not live with cats.

Because Joy can be mouthy when she's bored, she should not live with kids under 14 years old. With the right guidance and plenty of love, Joy is sure to be a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates her zest for life. If you're looking for a spirited, fun-loving dog to share your active lifestyle, Joy might just be the perfect match!

If you're ready to adopt within the next 24-48 hours and want to learn more about, meet, or adopt this pet, you can start the process in one of two ways:

Come in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30p-3:00p. For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) coming in ASAP is the fastest way to adopt!

**the below two methods are slower than visiting**
Call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us (springfield@dakinhumane.org) for more information about a pet. We are often on the line with another client, but we return voice mail and emails within 24 hours.

All adult dog adoption fees include;
-spay/neuter
-rabies and kennel cough vaccinations
-current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian)
-microchip implanted & registered to adopter
-treatment of fleas & ticks
-veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin
-free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians
Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
