Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My local shelter called asking if we could take in this young girl. They sent a very awful, off putting photo of her. She was licking her hair off creating bloody stripes in her skin. They called twice saying "Are you coming ?" That is code for "We are about to euthanize her " My friend and I went.
OMG What a surprise to see that she was wonderful! and she was a kitten still, probably 6-7 months given her weight and how undeveloped the brown
" mask" on her face was. The shelter, unclear and worried about what was going on with her skin, wanted her out immediately. They agreed to spay her for me when/ if she was cured. OK.
We liked her sweet personality right away and regretfully had to put her in isolation. We suspected she was unusually allergic to fleas. We gave flea med's, a medicated bath, a soothing oatmeal conditioner and ( poor thing) an E Collar to keep her from licking her body. Three long weeks later we took it off and watched to see if she would make us put it on again. She didn't. She was cured.
One day she was on my lap on her back and I was playing with her. I was just thinking OK I guess it is time to take her back to the shelter to get spayed. Then I felt something. What is that?? Her nipples were getting big!!!Oh Goodness!!! Could she be pregnant???
Long story short five weeks later she gave birth to 6 adorable kittens. She evidently got pregnant two days before she was taken to the shelter. And then she wasn't either euthanized there or spayed there. Those kittens wanted to be born.!!
It was probably her first litter but she was a devoted and excellent mother. On the day of birth we checked her at 8 am. Nope no kittens. When we went by at 9 am there were six little newborns all lined up along her tummy nursing away. Magic. ( Relief!!) She has been patient and wonderful with them. & Now she is done with mothering and is ready to be pampered for the rest off her life.
Beautiful CoCo is a delightful, goodnatured sweetheart. She is an easy cat to care for. She likes people. Mommy cats don't like other cats so I am not sure she would be comfortable with other cats in her home. Or she might outgrow that. She would be happy with kids about four years old and more. She would probably be fine with cat friendly dogs but I have no way of knowing. Like a Maine Coon she will continue growing in size and maturity til she is three years old.
Some family will be so lucky to live with her beautiful presence and loving company.
CoCo is spayed, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, microchipped, eats wet and dry food, and is litterbox perfect.
She is fostered by Harriet in Santa Cruz.
Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish their pet and create an ideal forever home.
If you believe you are the perfect adopter for CoCo please tell us why in the comments section of our Adoption Application, and contact Harriet at harrietluvskitties@yahoo.com If you are unable to reach Harriet please email us at info@purebredsplus.org.
NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone's best interests!
