For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
Romeo is a 7 month old boy who will need patience adjusting to his new surroundings, so his curious personality can come out. (Took about 2 weeks at my place.)
He is about 30 pounds and listed as a border Collie mix. I dont see him getting much larger. In the 3 weeks he has been with me, he has shown he is treat motivated. He uses the doggie door and has not had accidents after the second day. He quickly mastered crate training when a 4 legged friend joined us for several nights and was also in a seperate crate at night with no objections. Romeo does fine sleeping free roam as well. He knows sit, learning floor (laydown) and stay. He is not Alpha AT ALL, has no food aggressions and has done great with other dogs we have met.
He had some fear behaviors that have mostly disappeared, but do appear when he is in new situations. He was a house guest, when I went out of town for 2 nights and did have some accidents (new environment). But they also mentioned he was great off leash with his host dogs on walks up north. And he actually fell asleep in the car ride back to Phoenix for them. He is getting more exposure to car rides as he still gets nervous in my vehicle.
Although he is very laidback and chill when i am working from home, I think his best life would be a home with another dog that can play together in a backyard.
Romeo would love to be part of a family with a yard and another dog

More about this rescue
Here at Arf-Anage Dog Rescue, our motto is "No Mom Left Behind". We specialize in moms and pups from local shelters as well as the Navajo reservation. When fosters are available, we also help with puppies that are owner-surrendered, "accidental" litters, or the last of a litter that someone just "couldn't get rid of".
Once our Mama dogs are done raising their pups, they are given time to recover then spayed, rehabbed, and made ready for forever families.
Puppies are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. We orient them into a foster-home environment and begin potty training and socialization. We find them great forever homes and in case it doesn't work out, we take the dogs back and find them another loving home. We offer 80% refunds on adoption fees up to 5 days after the adoption.
In some situations, we also offer assistance to help find free or reasonable spay and neuter services for owned pets.
