My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Missy!

She is a 5 year old Hound mix who weighs about 57 pounds. Missy is a sweetheart with a heart of gold and some of the biggest ears that you`ve ever seen! She is a nervous girl at first and takes time adjusting to new people, but once she knows you she is sweet as can be. With some time and patience Missy is sure to be your new best friend and would make a wonderful snuggle buddy for an afternoon nap. She is a typical hound and loves smelling all of the new scents for the day and would gladly spend her afternoon outside lounging in the sun. Missy is very nervous with new dogs and would take a few introductions to new dogs to gain confidence, so she may not mind being the only dog in her forever home. She also a high prey drive with small animals so she cannot live in a home with small dogs or cats. Since she is sensitive at first, if there are kids in her forever home they need to be ages 13 and older.

If Missy looks like the girl for you, Give us a call at 330-487-0333 ext 803 to learn more about her , or stop by the facility at 752 West Portage Trail, 44313

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.
