Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Newt is available through our "Adopt From a Foster Home" program. Please email adopt@calgaryhumane.ca if you are interested in scheduling a meeting. Please do not make an appointment through our online booking calendar, as Newt is not available to meet on site.
Named after the courageous girl from the Aliens movie, Newt the kitten lives up to the name as her bravery increases each day! After arriving at our shelter as a stray, we quickly realized that this girl had had little to no human socialization. She was absolutely terrified here, so we sent her to a lovely foster home for some TLC! While still scared of new situations, loud sounds, and unfamiliar objects, Newt has made leaps and bounds with her foster parents. Her affectionate nature has begun to creep out as she becomes a purring machine who LOVES chin scratches so much that she may just doze off when receiving them. She is also a very playful girl who has learned that a piece of string is the most exciting toy ever. Newt also came in with another kitten who has since found his forever home, but she may do well with a feline friend in the future. While Newt is still a very scared baby, she has come a long way and can't wait to overcome all of her fears! If you would like to give this sweet girl a loving home, please reach out to adoptions today!

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.
Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.
Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.
Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.
Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.
Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
