My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I'm Serenity. I'm from Arkansas.
I'm a lovely little spayed hound mix. I'm about 5-6 years old and 40 pounds. I used to live outside before the good people who I live with now found me. They discovered that I was shot while I was living outside because every now and then I limp on the leg I was shot in. I'm described as "DEFINITELY an inside dog". I love being inside and really don't care to be outside for long periods of time. I definitely wouldn't make a good hiking buddy! I currently live with other dogs and do well. I might be a bit shy when I first arrive, but with a bit of patience and love, I'll be your new best friend!
I am somewhat of a flight risk when on leash, so double leashing is a much for me! I would love a fenced yard. I do well with kids, but I need a cat free home!

From the Vet:
Hi, I'm Serenity and here is some info about my medical care.
The Vet Center is working with my foster to determine if my previous treatment for heartworm was effective or if I will have to repeat any portion of the treatment to ensure my health and safety post treatment. I also was the victim of a gun shot wound and my left front leg has some abnormalities that we are currently managing with medications. If the injury is effecting my quality of life, this may require amputation. If determined necessary by the TBB Vet Team, surgery + 1 round of medications and 1 recheck can be added to my adoption contract. Other care outside of what is covered in the contract will be the responsibility of my forever family.

I am currently being treated for heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious so your resident pets are not at risk! The treatment for this is 3-4 months long and requires a minimum of 3 appointments and strict rest/restricted activity. My adoption can take place during treatment, while TBB manages the financial responsibility of my heartworm treatment at The Bond Between Vet Center. Any other medical care needed outside of the specific care covered in the contract disclaimer, would be the responsibility of my new family.

Go meet their pets

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

If you would like to meet an animal at our office who needs a foster, please reach out to inofficeanimals@thebondbetween.org and fill out our foster interest form at https://www.thebondbetween.org/foster

For more information on fostering or adoptable animals, please visit https://www.thebondbetween.org.

More about this rescue

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.

We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.

You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
