My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jazz! He is a 5 year old ex-sled dog with a sweet personality and is more ready than ever to find his forever home after 5 years old sled pulling and 89 days in foster care. Jazz was rescued, along with over 30 other sled dogs, from a tourist kennel that was retiring all of their dogs. When it comes to big dogs, Jazz is definitely on the quieter size. He is medium-sized with a playful and affectionate personality. He has the most beautiful eyes that have both brown and blue, giving him a really unique look. Jazz loves to go on walks, but still thinks he has to pull when out in front, so he will need guidance when it comes to his leash work. He's getting better every day! He is crate trained and goes in his crate with no issues. Jazz is also housetrained and learning basic commands well, in both English and French. He is still a little hesitant to trust, especially men, but will open up after time with somebody who loves him. Jazz is friendly and social with other dogs, especially females. He is gentle and good with children, and not yet cat tested. Jazz’s ideal home would have a confident female canine companion and an active family or individual that can provide him with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. He would love to have a fenced in yard that he can run and play until he feels safe and secure. He is spayed, up to date on all relevant vaccines, and microchipped.

More about this rescue

Baladi & Sled Dog Rescue of Ontario is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, providing veterinary care, and finding loving homes for dogs from the dog sledding industry.

We also extend our reach locally by rescuing stray cats and dogs from Aboriginal communities that we partner with. Additionally, our efforts expand globally as we started this rescue by saving Baladi cats and dogs from the streets of Egypt, but now that it is banned we continue helping Baladi's by supporting their placement in Egyptian shelters.
