My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

GABBANA hails from Sandy Lake in Northern Ontario and came south with her sister (Dolce) to find her forever home. She’s had her first 2 sets of puppy vaccines, is microchipped and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We have no information on either parent so the breeds we have listed as are just a guess as is the weight we think she’ll grow to be. This lovely, gentle girl is so quiet and loving. She loves to be cuddled up to you and will follow you around wherever you go.
GABBANA is crate trained and will sleep quietly in it all night. Her housetraining is still a work in progress but she is doing very well with it. If she doesn’t get to go outside in time she will use a towel that’s by the door for her. She really enjoys going on her walks and gets excited when she knows she’s going on one. She has several dogs in her foster home and gets along well with them all. She has the stronger personality of her and her sister but us still submissive with the dogs in her foster home.

An ideal home for GABBANA would be one with an active family that loves to go on walks and hiking on the trails. She travels well in a vehicle so would always be up for an adventure or two. She loves to run and play so a fenced yard is required for her. We do require children to be age 6 and up and be loving and caring towards animals. She’s met kittens so would suit a home with a cat in it but we do recommend a slow and monitored introduction.
Puppies are fun and cute but also require a lot of work, patience and dedication to training. We do need her adopter to be in agreement to sign her up for obedience/puppy training in order to adopt her. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and will be performed by the time she’s 6 months of age. We also need her adopter to be in agreement with this to adopt her. The adopter can opt to get het spay done at their own Vets office and the rescue will reimburse the portion that we would’ve for it to be done at the SPCA. The timeframe for the spay must be followed in order for the rescue to do so.
If GABBANA sounds like the girl for you and you’d like to meet her then please submit an adoption application.

Additional adoption info

Dogs: $750 (as of March 2024)
Cats: $250
The adoption process involves a brief application for the pet you are interested in. We will review your application and if you appear to be a good match for the pet, we will contact you for a phone interview. If that is successful we then do a vet reference check. If all goes well we will then set up a meet and greet for you and anyone else living in the home including any resident dogs with the pet. We then ask you to go home and contemplate your decision on adopting the pet and let us know your decision within 24hrs of meeting the pet. If applicable we will then move forward with the adoption at a mutually agreed upon time.

Go meet their pets

We only set up meet and greets with our animals once an adoption application has been submitted. We do occasionally have meet and greets with our animals at Global Pet Foods in the Barrie area.

You can check out the available pets on our rescuegroups website or on our rescue Facebook page.

More about this rescue

We’re a small rescue with a big mission to save animals in our Northern communities, local Pounds and owner surrenders (under certain circumstances.) We’re located in Barrie, Ontario and we serve the area of Simcoe County and within a two hour radius of the Barrie area.
Our intakes are placed in loving foster homes until they’re assessed, vetted including vaccines, microchip and a spay/neuter (if over 6 months of age) before they leave the rescue to be adopted. Female puppies are spayed at 6 months of age and males 8 months of age.)
We’re always looking for additional foster homes as we can only do intakes if we have foster homes for them to go into.
