My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Duke was brought in by a community member.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Duke, a handsome guy who's all about his people! Duke loves to make new friends and will be your loyal sidekick through thick and thin. He may be in his golden years, but you wouldn't know it with how goofy and playful he is! He loves outdoor adventures and will show off his zoomies after rolling in grass. He is comfortable riding in the car, walks well on a leash and would love to join you for outings. Duke does best as the only dog in the home, so he can soak up all your love and affection. If you're searching for a devoted and energetic companion, Duke is ready to be your one and only! Stop by our San Diego Campus and ask about sweet Duke today!

At SDHS:
Duke has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is now ready for his new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
