My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

That sweet, beautiful face belongs to Kika, a calm, loving, loyal, easy-going girl with a huge heart and a fluffy coat. So soft and so beautiful!!

Kika is around 5 years old, and we suspect her to be a Lab mix of some sort. She looks just like an overgrown Corgi, but considering her size, we find real Corgi genes a little hard to believe. She is a rescue, so exact age and breed are unknown to us and cannot be guaranteed. Kika weighs in around 53 pounds right now, fully grown. Kika is a mellow sweet girl, searching for a forever family that will pamper her with couch naps and leisurely Saturday morning walks.

Watch Kika here: https://youtu.be/7LFuCfe-EnU?si=JVCcOepOxOYoNOf1

She is loving and people-friendly. Kika’s favorite place to be is wherever her favorite humans are! She loves to be smothered in kisses by her foster family, and is always excited to be near humans. All tail wags and smiles from this sweet girl! While she is super people-loving, it’s important to note that she doesn’t show any signs of separation anxiety, and does well sharing love and affection with other dogs! Kika is a very balanced, sweet girl. Kika is initially excited for new people, but it will take her a day or so to fully trust new humans. She’s a rescue, and we can’t know her history- she’s very friendly and polite with new people, she’s just a little avoidant of pets until she knows you well.

Kika did well meeting other dogs here at the rescue, but she wasn’t interested in playing with our energetic, pushy puppies. She interacted with them kindly, just like any good older female dog would- totally “mama-dogging” them! Kika wasn’t overly playful with other dogs, but she was friendly and polite with them. Kika offered a few polite corrections to our pushy puppies, then she was happy to watch the puppies play from afar. Kika is currently fostered with other dogs, and we think that Kika would very well in a forever home with other dogs. Kika would be a great dog to have in the home when adopting or fostering a puppy- she’ll actually help you train them!

Here at the rescue, Kika was cat tested by our behavior team. She did really well meeting our house cat Tom, she sniffed him, walked away and then hung out in the same room as him for a while. Our behavior team recommends Kika for a home with kitties!

Kika is doing well with her leash training so far. When walking near dogs or other humans, Kika isn’t pulling, reacting or barking. She walks well on the leash, but sometimes her curiosity gets the best of her and she’ll get distracted by a good sniff. With a tiny bit of polishing, Kika will become an amazing walking companion.

Kika does well in the car, too! She quietly and calmly rides in the back seat, and will jump out at your destination, as soon as you ask her to. She’s always happy to be along for the ride!

If you’re looking for a happy, sweet, relaxed girl- that’s Kika, and she’s ready to meet you.

Kika’s perfect home has at least one loving human to call her own. Kika is a rescue, still working on her confidence, and will need a family that will allow her to fully decompress in their home. We are willing to test her with anything you need us to in order to ensure she’s the perfect match for you! We can make most anything happen- just let us know. With any specific questions, please reach out to her adoption coordinator, whose email is linked below.

Why adopt from Three Little Pitties?

The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it!

Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!

It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks:

• 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.)
• A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week)
• One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan
• 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan
• Coupons for a fun visit to Petco
• Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!

We celebrated our 5 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes.
