From Owner: I've raised her since she was 8 weeks old, and she has always had a very good heart and a joyful temperament. She is fully house trained with no issues. Great with children, a little clumsy, maybe. The way I put it is that she doesn't know how big she is, but she knows how small things are. She is good with dogs, and I bring her to the dog park regularly. She's never the instigator of situations but has stood up for herself. She does have jealousy and protective behavior. If a dog jumps up on me, she will be assertive and get between me and the other dog. She currently lives with two other dogs that belong to my roommates. One female border collie and a male terrier. There is weird, almost domineering behavior between her and the other female. It seems to be mutual feelings of jealousy with the both of them, but they get along well most of the time. Nothing has ever escalated into a serious fight, but on occasion, they have yipped at each other. She gets very excited around cats, and most cats find that scary. Every time that she has gotten the chance to get close to a cat, she is just curious and sniffs. She has no experience around live stock. She has no history of hip dysplasia in her family tree and is in overall great health. There has been no experience with cherry eye with her. Her ears have gotten irrated in the past from yeast build-up, and that does need maintenance. She is at a healthy weight of around 123 lbs, give or take a few. She takes nexguard plus once a month and has never had issues with lyme or heartworms. She is overwhelmingly loving towards any people that I've invited over to my home (very rarely does she jump, though). Her favorite thing in the world is to be around people. If you are in a room, she wants to be in that room with you. She's a leaner and will cuddle, but a lot of the time, she just likes to be near you. She will want to sleep in the same room with you. She has slept with me every night for almost three years now. If you are cooking, she does have a tendency to lay down right behind you, so watch out for that. She loves peanut butter and freeze-dried meat. She is picky with bones and treats. Tug of war and being chased are her favorite games to play, so sometimes recall can be tricky when she decides that it's a game. She loves belly rubs as well and will accept that at any time. She can be stubborn and will try and sniff your food, but once you let her know calmly that it's not for her, she will lay down. I've had a roommate be slightly aggressive with her when she went for his food. He pushed her away, and she got his arm. She didn't break skin and didn't intend to. It was a reaction to aggressive behavior and an adjustment issue more than a behavioral issue. That was the only incident that she has ever had with anyone and is very friendly towards him (we are still roommates). When this happened she was only a couple days into the process of integrating into a new home with three new people and two other dogs, coming from a place where it was just her and I, so it was very stressful for her. She can be protective over the yard, but it is just barking. She is very reactive towards dogs when on a leash or in the car. When on the leash, she is just excited, and once she gets face to face with the dog, she quiets down and just sniffs. She will occasionally bark at strangers on roller blades, wheelchairs, skateboards, or if they are carrying large objects. Also, at night, she can be unsure of strangers, and she can get reactive towards people running up from behind on a trail. A lot of the leash reactivity has been improved on and has calmed down with age but is still present. She does have a big personality and some quirks, but she is one of the warmest and goofiest beings at heart. She is an amazing dog with an undeniable spirit that thrives off of companionship.
