My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Rhonda cannot go home until after she's spayed. She can still accept visitors and applications in the meantime!*

Meet Rhonda!

This quirky girl was surrendered to HSoP through no fault of her own, and now she's on the hunt for a loving forever home. We estimate Rhonda to be around 2 years old. She has some room for improvement, but is a generally wonderful girl! Keep reading to learn more about Rhonda and her needs in a future home.

Since arriving in our care, Rhonda has made a few things clear. She's exhibited food aggression with our shelter staff, so this is something her new family should be aware of. She hasn't bitten anyone, but has growled and lunged. It's best to give Rhonda plenty of room when she's eating, and to not reach for her bowl before she's finished. Another thing that Rhonda has made clear is her dislike for being in the dog kennels. The barrier of the chain link seems to frustrate Rhonda and heighten her reactivity. When Rhonda is outside and away from the kennels with room to roam, she's a whole different dog!

In the kennels, Rhonda can act pretty intense. Eye contact stresses her out, causing her to bark, jump, and generally act wound-up. It's best to meet Rhonda in her outdoor kennel, where you can see the calm and collected girl we've come to love. Rhonda will run right up to new people when outside, and is very good about rubbing against you to ask for pets. Her body language is always clear, so her wagging tail will tell you that Rhonda is having a great time!

Rhonda is a very loyal girl who makes friends quickly and loves them immensely. She's content sitting right beside you, but would appreciate some daily walks to keep her healthy. We've recently discovered that Rhonda loves being brushed! as long as you can walk her, brush her, and tell her how beautiful she is, we're sure that Rhonda would be your new best friend.

We mentioned her food aggression above. Rhonda also likes treats, and so far, hasn't shown aggression when treats are used as a training tool. Rhonda can sit on command and is patient enough to wait for her reward, which could prove helpful for continued training in her new home.

We unfortunately don't know if Rhonda has ever shared a home with children, cats, or other dogs. Each adoption does come with a seven-day foster period, which can help to ensure a good fit for all members of the family. We do require all dogs to meet any canines in the home at HSoP prior to adoption.

Rhonda will be spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, and microchipped with her new owner's information by the time she goes home. Anyone interested in Rhonda is welcome to visit her at HSoP between 2-5pm Monday through Saturday . We're located at 2019 E White Ave Moscow, ID 83843. Her adoption fee is $135.
