Mother / daughter pair of standard grey / light ebony female chinchillas -- "Rory" & "Lumos"
Born 10/2019 (Rory / standard grey) -- almost 5 years old
Born 4/13/2023 (Lumos / light ebony) -- 1 year old
**The previous owner of these chinchillas would like to keep in touch with the new home that these chinchillas go to. While of course we cannot enforce something like this long-term, if you are not willing to at least reach out to the previous owner, send some photos, and let her know that her girls are doing well, then please look at some of our other available chinchillas**
Rory
Can be energetic and curious, but not as much as Lumos
Easy to scoop up into your arms
Does great with being handled and petted
Very sweet
Calm and chill when in your arms being loved on
Lumos
Wants to check *everything* out
Will hop out of the cage onto your outstretched arms
Very energetic and outgoing
Super easy to scoop up into your arms
Sweet girl
May hop right back out of your arms as she continues exploring
Will chill with you for short periods of time
Energetic ball of fluff!
**These girls make a great pair! They'd be great pets for the average pet owner as they're easy-going and very sweet. We anticipate that Lumos may calm down a bit more as she matures, as her mom is much more mellow.**

Our adoption process requires all of our potential homes to read our care packet and fill out an adoption form. The care packet talks about the care and needs of the specific animal the home is looking to adopt. The adoption form asks questions about the type of home the animal will be going into, what type of cage will be used, what type of food the animal will be fed, and so on - questions to verify that the pet will be cared for well in its new home. There is no application fee with our rescue, the only fees are the adoption fees for the pets.

Go meet their pets
Visiting our adoptable animals requires an appointment. To make an appointment with us, give us a call 219-789-0026. The rescue is run out of our house, so we are not always home for someone to view the animals. We are home most afternoons/evenings, and people are welcome to come visit then (after having called and set up an appointment).

More about this rescue
I am Ashley Gajda and I am the "owner" (if it could even be called that) of the rescue. I opened this rescue because I hated to see small pets without homes, and wanted to help. We opened the rescue in 2003 with very few cages, but have since expanded and now take in a variety of small animals and have plenty of spare cages. It is just me running the rescue, so I'm always looking for volunteers to help with whatever needs it at the time.
