Poppy is the sweetest girl with the prettiest eyes ??
She’s an affectionate gal & simply loves to be loved. Whether it’s snuggles, playing with another dog or just being your little shadow around the house, she’s an amazing companion. Some of her hobbies outside of snuggles & belly rubs include bug catching (she’s really really good at this), patrolling the fence line before she goes to bed and play time with the humans or dogs.
Poppy is 100% crate trained, she sleeps in her crate throughout the entire night without a peep and roams the house during the day. She’s still a puppy, but a very quick learner and treat driven (she’s a big foodie).”

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
