My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Padme, Our Galactic Mama Cat!

Attention, Star Wars fans and feline lovers alike! We have a truly special member of the Rebel Alliance ready to find her forever home! Padme isn't just any cat; she's the mother of a charming litter of four adorable kittens, all of whom are ready to embark on their own epic journeys once they turn 8 weeks old (10/11/2024). Just like the resilient and courageous Queen Amidala from a galaxy far, far away, Padme has shown incredible strength and love as she nurtures her young ones. Padme was born in August 2023, she is a domestic short hair tabby that is unaltered. Padme is a true heroine in her own right, balancing motherhood with grace and affection. Her tabby stripes make her look like she's wearing the finest Jedi robes, and her loving nature proves she’s ready to be the queen of her new home. If you’ve been searching for a loyal companion who can bring both the Force and a lot of love into your life, Padme is the perfect match. She’s ready to start a new chapter and be a cherished member of a family who will appreciate her gentle spirit and heroic heart. So, prepare for a new adventure and give Padme the loving home she deserves. She’s waiting for her chance to bring a little bit of galactic magic into your life! For more information or to meet Padme, reach out today and let’s make this adoption story one for the stars! May the purr be with you!

Welcome to the universe Mama Padme (b. Aug 2023)Padme's kittens were just born 8/11/24.  They are all doing well and Padme is such a good Mama!  We'll share updates and more information about Padme and her litter as we learn more about them!

Mama Padme will not be available until 10/11/24. We encourage you to apply now to adopt so we can begin the adoption process and Padme can go to her forever home when her kittens are old enough to leave the galaxy.

The suggested adoption donation for Padme is $75 or $125 if you want to adopt Padme and one of her kittens, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.

Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.

Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.

Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.

If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses.  All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.  Thank you in advance for your compliance.

More about this rescue

Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue, Inc. is a not for profit organization formed in 2014 by a small group of devoted animal lovers, in the Council Bluffs/Omaha area, with many years of rescue experience wanting to make a difference in the lives of dogs. Our rescue focuses on small breed dogs, less than 35 pounds, of any age. It is all volunteer based, and all of our rescue dogs are living in the homes of our volunteers.
Our rescue is unique in that we offer supportive services, such as education and training, to owners considering relinquishing their pet in an effort to try to keep the dog in their home whenever possible. We also educate and offer placement assistance to owners attempting to rehome their pets through social media sites, which can often be risky for the pets as well as the owners.
