My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Charlotte came to the Animal Rescue Network in May 2021 after being rescued from the streets of Montreal's Anjou district. She was not even a year old at the time, and had been fed outside since infancy by a caring local person. Charlotte didn't like her arrival at the shelter at all... She was terrified and didn't understand what was going on around her. To facilitate her socialization, we transferred her to a foster family where she made a lot of progress. Unfortunately, her foster family was unable to keep her long-term and Charlotte returned to the shelter, where she regressed considerably. Fortunately, today, little Charlotte trusts us! Three years of hard work are finally paying off! She's no longer passive or frightened at the sight of us. She now appreciates our gentle stroking of her head, and pushes her little nose against our hand to express her new-found joy at being stroked. Of course, she still doesn't allow herself to be handled, and remains fearful, but we know that Charlotte has the potential to continue her fine progress. She loves to play and eat treats sparingly. She has developed food allergies since arriving at the shelter, so she eats a hypoallergenic diet. She appreciates people who are gentle and patient with her. She gets on well with other cats, but will not live with dogs or children. She needs a calm family who will follow her rhythm while trying to get her to blossom even more with humans. She's a really sweet little cat who needs time to find her bearings. Charlotte is an adult cat, therefore the adoption fees for her are $290. She is sterilized, vaccinated, microchipped and negative for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and feline leukemia (FeLV). You will also be provided with health insurances for the first 6 weeks following adoption. You will also have access to the support of the adoption team for as long as you need it. You will also have access to a free 30 minutes video consultation during the first month following the adoption with our cat behaviour consultant FelineGood ( https://www.felinegood.ca ).

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All new adoption homes are carefully screened to determine if they are suitable. There is an adoption fee that includes the sterilization, initial vaccination of every animal, testing for FIV and FeLV of all cats at the shelter, and a 21 days trial period. A contract is always signed between the ARN and the adopter for their protection. A follow-up by an ARN adoption coordinator is often done either by telephone or by visit, and we also offer help/cousel for the life of the cat.
