DINGO NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!
Name: Dingo Best Guess for Breed: Border collie and terrier mix
Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of July 2024 Gender:Male
Approximate Weight:48 lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids but he can be tested. We do not recommend that he go to a home with cats.
Currently Living At: DC area boarding partner -- needs a foster or forever home!
Special Adoption Considerations: Dingo is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.
We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Dingo is Looking For: His forever home! Through no fault of his own, this handsome boy ended up in the shelter. He is full of fun, young dog energy and is ready to have his own humans to trot alongside on sniffy walks, romps in local parks, and all the adventures they can dream up! He likes making new doggie friends and is a gentle player. Exploring all the toys also sounds great, as well as some delicious kibble and a cushy dog bed.
Most of all, though, he wants to know he's safe and loved and under his own roof every time the sun goes down. He especially loves pets and belly rubs and will happily sprawl in the laps of shelter staff, asking for love. In exchange, he promises adoring gazes, cuddles, and loyalty for all his days.
What do you say? Is Dingo the companion you've been looking for?
What My Foster Says About Me: Dingo is an amazing pup! He loves people and will just crawl right into your lap. Dingo will also do anything for a belly rub. Within 2 minutes of meeting him, he was on his back and wagging his tail. Dingo loves long walks, lounging on the couch, and being right by your side. He did a great job sleeping in his crate and had no accidents in the house. He is such a sweet boy and will be a wonderful addition to anyone's life.
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
